Job Responsibilities
- Provide peri-operative nursing care including preparation of the operating theatre and surgical instruments.
- Assist surgeons and anaesthetists during operations and emergencies, ensuring patient safety and infection prevention.
- Monitor patients during pre-, intra- and post-operative periods and support patient counselling.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation for surgical procedures and patient care.
- Support and mentor junior health staff and participate in shift handovers.
- Participate in quality improvement, IPC measures and emergency response activities.

Save the Children Bangladesh is seeking a dedicated and experienced Operating Theatre (OT) Nurse to join their clinical team in Cox's Bazar (Teknaf). The post is based in Cox's Bazar (Teknaf), Bangladesh, and offers the chance to work closely with surgeons, anaesthetists and multidisciplinary clinical teams to deliver safe surgical services. Key responsibilities (summary): Provide peri-operative nursing care, including preparation of the operating theatre and instruments, assisting during surgical procedures, and supporting safe anaesthetic practice. Work alongside surgeons and anaesthetists to ensure adherence to nursing and infection prevention standards and national/WHO clinical guidelines. Assist during surgeries and emergencies, provide patient monitoring during peri-operative periods and support patient counselling and pre/post-operative care. Maintain accurate clinical documentation and reporting related to surgical procedures and patient care. Participate in quality improvement, supply and equipment checks, and IPC (infection prevention and control) measures within the OT environment. Supervise and mentor other health staff, support shift handovers and contribute to continuous staff development. Required qualifications and education: Diploma in Nursing OR Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Nursing from an accredited institution. Recognized and registered by the Bangladesh Nursing & Midwifery Council (BNMC/BMDC) — registration and license to practice required. Experience and technical skills: At least 3 years of clinical experience, including a minimum of 1 year specifically as an OT Nurse, preferably in a hospital or clinic setting. Experience working in NGO health services, 24/7 health facilities, emergency response contexts and night duty shifts. Hands-on peri-operative skills, infection prevention expertise, emergency response capability, and ability to mentor and supervise junior clinical staff. Additional requirements and personal attributes: Availability for night duty and emergency shifts. Strong communication skills, commitment to child safeguarding and adherence to Save the Children’s anti-harassment and protection policies. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team in potentially high-pressure situations.
