Job Responsibilities

  • Design, plan, and execute qualitative research projects in global and public health
  • Conduct literature reviews, policy analyses, and systematic reviews
  • Collect, manage, and analyze qualitative data using NVivo, Atlas.ti or similar tools
  • Prepare research reports, manuscripts, presentations, and policy briefs
  • Support grant proposal development and project reporting
  • Liaise with collaborators, stakeholders, and funding agencies
  • Mentor and supervise research assistants, interns, and students
  • Contribute to workshops, seminars, and training programs
  • Perform other research-related tasks assigned by the Director/Principal Investigator

Job Description

North South University (NSU) invites applications for a Research Associate (Qualitative) position at the Global Health Institute (NGHI). This is an exciting research job opportunity at a leading private university in Bangladesh. As a Research Associate you will support high-quality research, contribute to grant writing, and translate qualitative findings into policy-relevant outputs. This job circular is ideal for those aiming to grow their research portfolio, publish peer-reviewed articles, and develop skills in qualitative research methods and policy engagement.Key responsibilities (summary):Design, plan, and implement qualitative research studies in global/public health contexts.Conduct literature reviews, policy analyses, and systematic reviews to inform research design and outputs.Collect, manage, and analyze qualitative data using software such as NVivo or Atlas.ti.Prepare high-quality research reports, manuscripts, presentations, and policy briefs targeted at academic and non-academic audiences.Support faculty and senior researchers in drafting grant proposals and project reports to internal and external funders.Liaise with national and international collaborators, stakeholders, and funding agencies to facilitate research activities.Mentor and supervise research assistants, interns, and students involved in study activities.Contribute to capacity-building workshops, seminars, and training programs organized by NGHI.Perform other research-related tasks as assigned by the Director or Principal Investigator.Required qualifications and skills:Master's degree (MPH, MSc, or equivalent) in Public Health, Epidemiology, Global Health, or a related discipline.At least 5 years of relevant, demonstrable research experience (academic or project-based), preferably within universities, NGOs, or research institutions.Strong knowledge of qualitative research methods, study design, ethics, and best practices.Proficiency with qualitative data analysis software (e.g., NVivo, Atlas.ti) and strong organizational skills for managing datasets and timelines.Excellent scientific writing, presentation, and communication skills in English; experience with peer-reviewed publications is preferred.Experience in grant writing, synthesizing evidence for policy briefs, and presenting results to diverse audiences.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams, with high integrity and time-management skills.Preferred:Prior work experience in health systems research, implementation research, or global health challenges.Demonstrated track record of grants, publications, or conference presentations.Benefits and terms:Salary: As per NSU policy.Other benefits: Provident fund, gratuity, festival bonuses, group insurance, in-house free medical consultation, and other institutional benefits.Other terms: High professional standards expected; willingness to work shifts/holidays when required; third division/class or equivalent GPA in any educational level is not accepted.How to apply: This is a formal job circular posted by the company (North South University).
