Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain Mushak forms (4.3, 6.6, 6.7, 6.8) and other required VAT documentation.
  • Calculate and deduct VAT at source and issue relevant certificates.
  • Collect and apply SROs and amendments introduced by the Finance Act.
  • Perform VAT reconciliation between VAT records and accounting system records.
  • Maintain knowledge of Trade VAT, Advance Tax VAT, Manufacturer VAT accounting, Input Tax Credit, Turnover Tax, Retailer-level VAT, and VAT Deducted at Source (VDS).
  • Prepare all periodic VAT-related reports and statements and submit monthly VAT returns (Mushak-9.1).
  • Represent the company in VAT hearings with VAT Circle, Division, Commissioner, and VAT Intelligence.
  • Develop strategic plans and provide daily VAT-related operational support.
  • Handle VAT matters during annual audits and process AT refund applications with the VAT Division and Commissioner’s Office.
  • Prepare and submit Monthly Rebate Statements and Sales Statement Reports to VAT & Accounts Department (Head Office).
  • Report factory P.B. Board inventory on the 1st of every month to the Head Office.

Job Description

AkijBashir Group is seeking a diligent and experienced VAT Officer to join their finance team. This job circular is for candidates who are detail-oriented and possess a solid grounding in VAT laws and practical VAT operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate VAT compliance across multiple business units and will play a central role in preparing statutory VAT documentation, reconciliation, and representing the company in VAT-related proceedings. Coordinate VAT matters with factory units, local & export sales units and the commercial department; report PB Board inventory on the 1st of every month to Head Office. Detailed responsibilities (expanded): Ensure preparation and timely submission of periodic VAT statements and monthly returns; reconcile VAT ledgers with accounting entries to identify and correct discrepancies. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of New VAT & SD Act, 2012 and VAT & SD Rules, 2016 and apply relevant circulars and SROs to company operations. Engage proactively with VAT authorities for queries, hearings and dispute resolution; prepare supporting documentation and represent the company in hearings. Lead the preparation and follow up of VAT-related audit schedules and responses during statutory audits and VAT inspections. Support strategic plans for VAT-related improvements and process optimizations in coordination with the Accounts and Commercial Departments. Required skills and qualifications: Bachelor/Honours or Masters degree; preferred degrees include BBA in Accounting, BBA in Finance or BBA in Management. Practical experience in VAT accounting and filing (knowledge of Mushak forms and VAT return processes). Familiarity with the New VAT & SD Act, 2012 and VAT & SD Rules, 2016, and ability to interpret relevant SROs and circulars. Experience in VAT reconciliation, VAT at source, input tax credit handling, and AT refund processes. Good communication skills for coordination with internal units and representation with VAT authorities. Proficiency in MS Excel and familiarity with accounting systems/software for VAT posting and reporting. Experience & candidate profile: 1 to 5 years of relevant experience preferred; freshers with relevant VAT training are encouraged to apply.
