Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement business strategies aligned with the gallery’s vision and artistic goals.
  • Collaborate with the CEO/Director to plan exhibitions, events, and long-term growth initiatives.
  • Set performance targets and monitor gallery performance metrics (sales, visitor growth, partnerships, etc.).
  • Oversee daily operations including exhibitions, art handling, logistics, and gallery maintenance.
  • Supervise operational departments such as administration, finance, HR, and marketing.
  • Ensure smooth coordination between curatorial, sales, and technical teams.
  • Maintain operational excellence in visitor experience, gallery ambiance, and service standards.
  • Manage budgeting, cost control, and financial planning; review revenue streams from art sales, exhibitions, memberships, sponsorships, and events.
  • Supervise staff recruitment, training, and performance evaluations; build a strong internal culture.
  • Oversee contracts for artists, curators, vendors, and event partners.
  • Support curatorial teams in planning and executing exhibitions and special programs; coordinate logistics for installation, shipping, insurance, and artwork conservation.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, security, legal requirements and intellectual property laws.
  • Manage insurance coverage, implement risk management and disaster recovery procedures.

Far Oil & Gas Limited is seeking an experienced Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead operational excellence for a prominent gallery-style operation. This job opportunity is ideal for a senior leader who can combine strategic vision with hands-on operational management. The successful candidate will work closely with the CEO/Director and cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional visitor experiences, revenue growth, and sustainable organizational development. Overview & purpose Provide strategic leadership and translate long-term goals into measurable operational plans. Drive financial oversight, optimize revenue streams (art sales, exhibitions, memberships, sponsorships, events), and ensure transparency in reporting. Oversee daily operations including exhibitions, art handling, logistics, and gallery maintenance while supporting curatorial and sales teams. Manage budgeting, cost control, and financial planning; regularly review revenue streams and adjust strategies to meet targets. Recruit, train, and evaluate staff; foster a strong internal culture that encourages creativity, accountability, and teamwork. Maintain high standards of visitor experience, gallery ambiance, and service protocols. Ensure compliance with local regulations, contractual obligations, intellectual property law, and safety/security requirements related to art handling. Implement risk management, insurance coverage and disaster recovery procedures for artwork, staff and property. Promote marketing campaigns, strengthen relationships with collectors, patrons, sponsors and cultural institutions, and represent the gallery at fairs and public events. Identify opportunities for growth, digital transformation, online exhibitions and new business models (including art leasing, digital sales and NFT initiatives) to expand organizational reach. Required education & experience Master of Arts (MA) or equivalent advanced degree in relevant field. Proven senior management experience in gallery, museum, cultural institution, or comparable operations management role. Skills & attributes Strong leadership and team development skills. Deep knowledge of art curation, exhibition planning and gallery operations. Marketing and public relations expertise, including stakeholder engagement and donor/sponsor relations. Demonstrated experience in art sales, revenue generation and financial oversight. Excellent communication, negotiation and contract management capabilities. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple concurrent projects. Commitment to compliance, risk mitigation and operational excellence.
