Job Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement and monitor agriculture, livelihood and livestock components at field level.
  • Guide staff to select rightsholders and ensure formation and functionality of self-help groups and farmers’ field schools.
  • Facilitate trainings, ensure delivery of agro-inputs and assets, and provide on-field technical support.
  • Assess beneficiary capacity and prepare training/development plans.
  • Monitor and supervise project staff and field-level activities; collect and analyze project data.
  • Develop household business plans and support income-generating activities (IGAs).
  • Establish market linkages and strengthen community groups and networks.
  • Coordinate with government agriculture/livestock departments, NGOs and other service providers.
  • Prepare service maps, maintain documentation and contribute to monthly/interim/final reports.
  • Develop training materials and modules on aquaculture, agriculture, poultry, goat rearing and IGAs.
  • Ensure safeguarding, child protection and PSEA compliance; contribute to staff and beneficiary safety measures.
  • Travel frequently to remote project sites and perform other duties as assigned.

OverviewIslamic Relief Bangladesh invites experienced and motivated professionals to apply for the position of Project Officer - Livelihood within its Humanitarian Crisis Response Programme. Read the full job circular below and follow the apply instructions carefully.Key responsibilitiesPlan, implement and monitor all agriculture, livelihood and livestock components of the project at field level.Support selection of rightsholders and ensure formation and functionality of self-help groups and farmers’ field schools.Facilitate field-level training, ensure agro-input and asset distribution reach intended beneficiaries and provide on-field technical support.Conduct regular household visits for follow-up on homestead livelihood activities, demonstrations and interventions.Develop individual, need-based household business plans and support income-generating activities (IGAs).Monitor, supervise and evaluate progress of IGAs and develop linkages with local markets and value chains.Establish and maintain networks with government agriculture/livestock departments, NGOs, service providers and local market actors.Provide inputs and documentation for monthly, interim and final reports; collect case studies, best practices and visual documentation.Develop training materials and awareness flip charts; prepare modules on aquaculture, poultry, goat rearing and other livelihood topics.Promote safeguarding, ensure staff and beneficiary protection and adhere to IR child protection & PSEA policies.Travel frequently to remote project areas as required and perform other duties assigned by the Supervisor.Required skills & knowledgeTechnical expertise in agriculture, livestock, fisheries, soil science and livelihood programming.Strong project implementation, monitoring & evaluation, reporting and documentation skills.Community mobilization, facilitation, leadership, teamwork and problem solving skills.Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, internet and Kobo Toolbox.Language: working knowledge of English and Bengali; Chittagong dialect preferable.Awareness and commitment to safeguarding, child protection and PSEA principles.Education & experienceMaster’s degree in Agriculture, Veterinary Science, Soil Science, Fisheries or closely related discipline.Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in agriculture/livelihoods/livestock projects, preferably with NGOs or development agencies.BenefitsMonthly salary: Tk. 68,294 (as advertised) with potential range up to Tk. 88,782 depending on experience.Hardship allowance (10% of monthly salary) where applicable, mobile bill, tour allowance/per-diem and provident fund.Insurance coverage (IPD, OPD, Life, DB, CIB), festival bonus, long service awards and gratuity.Leave entitlements (annual, casual, sick, TOIL/CTO, maternity, paternity, R&R) and accommodation (applicable for Bhasan Char placements).Other benefits as per organizational HR policy.LocationField-based role in Hatiya, Noakhali (Bhasan Char operations).
