Job Responsibilities
- Collect patient samples (blood, urine, stool, CSF, etc.) with correct labeling, preservation, and transportation.
- Perform clinical laboratory tests in pathology, hematology, biochemistry, microbiology, immunology, serology, parasitology according to SOPs.
- Maintain internal quality control (IQC) and participate in external quality assessment (EQA) programs; verify results to minimize errors.
- Calibrate, validate, and maintain laboratory instruments including auto-analyzers, microscopes, biosafety cabinets, and centrifuges; troubleshoot and arrange repairs.
- Adhere to biosafety and infection control procedures, use PPE, and manage biomedical waste properly.
- Analyze results, prepare accurate laboratory reports, and immediately inform physicians of critical or suspicious results.
- Record and store all test results in registers or computer systems while maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Provide training and supervision to interns and junior technologists and uphold professional ethics.

Perform laboratory testing across Clinical Pathology, Hematology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Immunology, Serology, and Parasitology following SOPs. Perform routine calibration, validation and maintenance of laboratory instruments such as auto-analyzers, microscopes, biosafety cabinets, centrifuges, and other equipment; troubleshoot or arrange for repairs when needed. Uphold biosafety and infection control practices, use PPE appropriately, and manage biomedical waste according to policy. Interpret laboratory data, prepare clear and accurate reports, and immediately notify physicians of critical or suspicious results. Maintain meticulous data recording and documentation, ensuring confidentiality of patient information in registers and electronic systems. Provide training and supervision to interns, junior technologists and new staff members; promote professional ethics and patient-centered care. Required qualifications and skills: Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Biochemistry or BSc in a relevant laboratory/medical technology field. At least 4 years of practical experience in hospitals, diagnostic centres, or related healthcare settings. Demonstrated competency in Biochemistry, Hematology, and general Medical Technology procedures. Strong knowledge of laboratory quality assurance and quality control processes. Good interpersonal, problem-solving, and documentation skills, with commitment to professional ethics.
