Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct household surveys, FGDs, PDM, KAP surveys and KIIs to identify vulnerable beneficiaries and prepare beneficiary lists and muster rolls.
  • Select and finalize appropriate sites for WASH infrastructure and obtain necessary endorsements/NOCs.
  • Monitor hardware activities using checklists and supervise construction to ensure compliance with technical specifications and designs.
  • Conduct periodic water quality testing for boreholes, DTW and STW and ensure safe fecal sludge and solid waste management.
  • Prepare daily field notes, delivery notes, bills and support procurement processes (requisitions and quotation collection).
  • Manage casual labor and approved volunteers; ensure attendance and supervise distribution and construction events.
  • Form and train community volunteer groups, caretakers, user groups, majhi & CBC for sustainable operation and maintenance.
  • Integrate PSEA, safeguarding and complaint & feedback response mechanisms into project implementation.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders, organize inception and coordination meetings, and participate in sector coordination forums.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports, completion reports, case studies, and support visibility and documentation activities.

OverviewIslamic Relief Bangladesh is seeking a motivated and technically-skilled Field Facilitator to join its Humanitarian Crisis Response Programme in Ukhia, Cox's Bazar. This job offers an opportunity to work with a respected humanitarian company delivering WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) interventions in a challenging, high-impact environment. Please read the responsibilities and requirements carefully before you apply.Key responsibilities (summary)Beneficiary and site selection for WASH interventions, including household surveys, FGDs, and validation with authorities.Monitoring and quality assurance of WASH services, water quality testing, and construction supervision in line with project standards.Technical planning, site identification, implementation oversight of WASH infrastructure (DTW, STW, latrines), and use of technical drawings/AutoCAD guidance.Stakeholder coordination, organization of inception/coordination meetings, and formation of community groups and committees.Timely reporting, documentation (monthly reports, completion reports, case studies), and support for procurement and documentation processes.Detailed responsibilitiesConduct door-to-door household surveys to identify vulnerable beneficiaries and prepare beneficiary lists, muster rolls and distribution records.Organize FGDs, KAP surveys, PDM, KII and other assessments as required by the project.Identify and finalize appropriate sites for WASH infrastructure following Islamic Relief selection criteria and obtain necessary endorsements/NOCs from stakeholders.Monitor hardware activities using checklists; carry out periodic water quality testing of boreholes and tube wells; supervise construction to ensure compliance with drawings and technical specifications.Manage casual labor and volunteers for WASH activities; ensure daily attendance, provide supervision and support during distributions and construction work.Ensure safe fecal sludge management and effective solid waste management approaches are implemented in Ukhia.Prepare daily field notes, delivery notes, bills and voucher checks; support procurement processes (requisition, quotation collection).Integrate PSEA, safeguarding and complaint & feedback response mechanisms into project implementation and ensure visibility of the project.Facilitate training for caretakers, user groups, majhi & CBC and form community-led volunteer groups, HP groups and user groups.Prepare and submit weekly and monthly reports, case studies and media materials; collect completion reports and ensure documentation is provided to WASH focal points and partners.Conduct technical and environmental surveys (pre and post surveys) and support production of IEC & BCC materials for hygiene promotion.Required educationDiploma in Civil Engineering (Diploma in Engineering in Civil Engineering preferred).ExperienceMinimum 2 years of relevant work experience in WASH projects, preferably in humanitarian/FDMN contexts and with NGOs or development agencies.Practical experience in fecal sludge management, solid waste management, water testing, and WASH infrastructure implementation.Essential skills and competenciesTechnical skills in WASH engineering & construction supervision, including familiarity with AutoCAD and ability to interpret technical drawings.Experience with community mobilization, volunteer supervision, distribution events and vendor management.Strong reporting, documentation, M&E and project implementation skills; advanced report writing and proposal drafting skills are an asset.Good financial awareness for checking bills and voucher handling; decision making and conflict resolution skills.Working knowledge of Microsoft Word/Excel, Kobo tool and basic internet; basic photographic skills for documentation.Excellent coordination, advocacy, networking and communication skills; ability to work under pressure and manage workload effectively.Language: working knowledge of English (reading, writing, speaking) and Chittagong dialect.Other desirable attributesExperience with humanitarian response systems, UN/INGO coordination, and understanding of safeguarding/PSEA.Demonstrated capacity in construction quality control and field monitoring.Supportive team-player attitude, strategic and staff management awareness, planning and analytical capabilities.BenefitsMobile bill reimbursementTour allowanceHealth insuranceProvident fundWeekly 2 holidaysGratuityFestival bonus10% High Cost AllowanceOther benefits as per organizational HR policyHow to applyThis job circular encourages applications from all suitable candidates.
